Annual Christmas letter reviewing the years events.
Dec 2010 to March, 2011 I was reclined at home in bed recovering from a pressure sore which resulted when my roho air cushion became flat in one sector without my knowledge. The boredom was alleviated by an ipad 1 which was really good for reading ebooks.
March to June, 2011 was spent editing a draft of Steven Mailey's memoirs, The Rosalie Boys and researching photos to go with the text.
July was spent with my carer Marshal Moyo (pictured) touring Zambia. Time was spent in Lusaka, Victoria Falls, and the copper belt province, staying with Marshal's family.  A game park was also visited. The trip is described in these films.    (Photos on Flickr)
I toured Soweto in Johannesburg, South Africa on the way back to Perth

In Sept., 2011 I drove to Kalgoorlie (Photos) and spent a night in the 'ghost' town of Ora Banda,  (Flickr Photos) to film a documentary, stopping in Westonia  (Photos) on the way back.
Spring of 2011 was spent preparing a docodrama to illustrate Steven Mailey's memoirs.  First came the script, then the story board and shot lists. Then, I needed to locate a camera person, purchase the sound, lighting and camera gear, and recruit some young actors.  I got a good buy on a Canon 5d mk 2 from ebay, then got my additional sound and lighting equipment cheaply from an Indian company called Proaim Shop.
In Dec., 2011 I enjoyed a two week trip with Richard Smetek to the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, Sea World, and Movie World We spent a week at Cathy Scott's home.

I put together four movies about the trip, my favourite on Nimbin (below).

Polish Restaurant,

Mt Tamborine, Qld.

Christmas, 2011 was spent on the Liebeck farm. (Photos) (Movie)
Throughout 2011, Don enjoyed many long wheelchair trips in his Bounder wheelchair, modified to travel 20 km/hr.  Some trips were 50 to 60 km in length, including BBQs and pub stops.
Jan. and Feb., 2012 involved filming and editing the docodrama BOYS OF THE LAKE.

Don's routine usually includes daily excursions to local cafes for coffee, visiting the Monogram,  Cappuccino by the River,   Gill Street Deli, Cimbalinos, and others.

Other haunts include the Irish pubs of J B O'Reilly's and Clancys.

Don spent a week in Bunbury in Jan. 2013 touring the town, including the Big Swamp.  A day trip was to Dunsborough and Yallingup.
Regular pints of Guinness at J B OReillys.
Don spent two weeks in a lovely house in Geraldton, a coastal town 400 km north of Perth. Situated a hundred metres from the beach he relished fresh BBQd seafood meals, barramundi, snapper and prawns nightly and the sounds of ocean waves breaking rhythmically.
George Pugh with wife Pat enjoyed a week's visit with us in Feb

Don and James Wright spent two weeks in Bali in July.
Michael Hand stayed with us in the second half of 2013.
