THE CLASS AS A GROUP

Large Group Processes for Organizational Diagnosis and Planning John Little*

In this paper I wish to describe and discuss one such forum which I believe has great potential for any organization which wishes to adopt a more collaborative style for its operation and day to day management. It is not a Search Conference, though it may look like one. Nor is it a series of brain-storming and Nominal Group Technique sessions though it makes much use of such methods. It is, rather, a focussed and highly structured conference process which runs through five stages to a tight agenda, and which nevertheless aims to create a collaborative climate for group planning, and to produce a workable plan or document as its outcome.
